HOME

‘ADITHI’ is a non-profit making women’s organization working for the socio-economic development and empowerment of resource poor and resource-less women and girl children through awareness generation, leadership development, livelihood and income generating programmes in key economic sectors by forming self-sustainable groups. A secondary goal is to develop replicable models and organizational methods for fostering the same. It is situated in Patna, with project areas in different rural and urban areas of Bihar (8 districts), Jharkhand state (2 districts) and Tamil Nadu (1 district).

VISION

Adithi’s vision is to be a new type of women’s organisation with a participatory culture, where decisions will be made by grassroot women after creating awareness of opportunities; where resources will be in the hands of grassroot women; and where every woman will be treated with dignity and equality.

She envisages a society in which women have rights over their lives and wherein the positive qualities of women and men govern the functioning of society. She also envisages that the negative values of the present patriarchal society such as violence, materialism, militarisation etc would be eliminated.

MISSION

Adithi is set up to enable the empowerment through economic and social development of women of poor families (living below the poverty line) in India to achieve the elimination of hunger in a few demonstration projects.
