‘ADITHI’
is a non-profit making women’s
organization working for the socio-economic development and
empowerment of resource poor and resource-less women and girl
children through awareness generation, leadership development,
livelihood and income generating programmes in key economic sectors
by forming self-sustainable groups. A secondary goal is to develop
replicable models and organizational methods for fostering the same.
It is situated in Patna, with project areas in different rural and
urban areas of Bihar (8 districts), Jharkhand state (2 districts)
and Tamil Nadu (1 district).
VISION
Adithi’s
vision is to be a new type of women’s organisation with a
participatory culture, where decisions will be made by grassroot
women after creating awareness of opportunities; where resources
will be in the hands of grassroot women; and where every woman will
be treated with dignity and equality.
She
envisages a society in which women have rights over their lives and
wherein the positive qualities of women and men govern the
functioning of society. She also envisages that the negative values
of the present patriarchal society such as violence, materialism,
militarisation etc would be eliminated.
MISSION
Adithi
is set up to enable the empowerment through economic and social
development of women of poor families (living below the poverty
line) in India to achieve the elimination of hunger in a few
demonstration projects.
