CRAFTS WOMEN

We were the first to develop the concept of “barefoot marketeers” who initiated the participation of rural crafts women in marketing of crafts from local level to international handicraft exhibitions.

ADITHI facilitated mapping and studies for leafplate, bamboo, rope in Jharkhand area (both horizontal and vertical).

Traditional craftswomen have participated in four 'high fashion' training workshops run by Kinara Design Studio, Aid to Artisan (USA), Lucy Steigal, Penelope, Dastkar etc.

The production and sales figure of these three handicrafts are steadily increasing.

ADITHI has participated in exhibition held by Asia Society, Leeds (England).

In collaboration with Joss Graham Oriental Textiles and ADITHI, the October Gallery held an exhibition of hand sewn textiles made in Bihar form May 7th to 31st  2003. This was the first exhibition in the U.K. of Sujuni (Stitched Quilts) and Khatwa (Applique Textiles) and drew a phenomenal response. The net sales was Rs. 22,47,230.98 /-. One Sujuni was sold for 1500 Pounds and one khatwa for 675 Pounds.
